About Kevin
Malaysia-born, Melbourne, Australia based, Kevin began his classical guitar study at the age of twelve in Malaysia under Mr. Tan Seng Meng. After he passed his ABRSM Grade 8 Classical Guitar with merit in 2011, he further his studies in Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA), Singapore, where he study guitar under Mr. Manuel Cabrera II.
Due to his excellent performance skill, Kevin was crowned as champion for the 3rd Tarrega Guitar School solo classical guitar competition. Besides, Kevin often features as a soloist in concerts or events in school and external music activities. He was also an active guitarist in the NAFA (Singapore) guitar ensemble and Torres (Malaysia) guitar ensemble.

During his years of studies in NAFA, Kevin took piano studies under tutorage of Dr. Ernest Lim and vocal studies under tutorage of Mr. Reuben Lai as minor studies. His participated in NAFA choir actively and perform alongside with Singapore Symphony Choir (SSC) during the Benjamin Britten’s War Requiem in Esplanade in the year of 2013. He is also one of the choir member that premiered Dr. Zechariah Goh Toh Chai’s Song of the Rising Wind in 2014.
Kevin is one of the first Malaysian to obtain Singapore Ministry of Education (MOE) full scholarship to further his music studies in Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) and graduated with Diploma in Music Teaching in 2015. After completion of his first diploma, he pursued Diploma in Music Education in National Institute of Education (NIE), Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in Singapore and graduated in 2016.​Upon completion of the two diplomas,
Kevin taught in Singapore's secondary school for 5 years and was sponsored by the Singapore government to pursue his Bachelor of Music in the University of Melbourne (MCM) majoring in Classical guitar and graduated in 2022. ​With many years of teaching experiences to students of various backgrounds in Malaysia, Singapore and Australia, Kevin is equipped with different pedagogies in guitar teaching.
Kevin has also prepared many students for guitar exams and performances. Some of his students even pursued music as their lifelong career in Malaysia!​Kevin believes that every children is musically inclined and teaches all students with respect. He believes that the joy of learning will cultivate positive learning experiences for students.
